Unclaimed Benefits - How to Check and Submit a Claim

The National Fund for Municipal Workers (NFMW) is committed to helping former members and beneficiaries receive any unclaimed benefits they may be entitled to.

Step 1: Check if a Benefit is Due

You can easily find out if a benefit is due to you:

  1. Visit the FSCA Unclaimed Benefits Search Tool
    ➤ Enter you the required information including your South African ID number to see if any benefit is listed under your name.
  2. If your details appear, you may proceed to submit a claim to the NFMW.
Who Should Check?
  • Former members who resigned, retired, or were dismissed and are unsure if a benefit was ever claimed
  • Beneficiaries of deceased members
Step 2: Complete the Correct Claim Form

Please download and complete the relevant form based on the type of exit:

Both the member and the employer must complete the form in full.

Step 3: Submit the Required Supporting Documents

Along with the completed claim form, submit the following:

  • Certified copy of the member's South African ID
  • Proof of bank details
    Bank statement or bank confirmation letter (not older than 3 months)
  • Proof of residential address
  • Current contact details
    Cell phone number and/or email address

Ensure that all documents are clear, legible, and up to date to avoid processing delays.

Once we receive your documents:

  • We will verify your information and contact you if anything is missing.
  • Valid claims will be processed and paid within the Fund's standard turnaround times.
